Frozen Cherry Recipes For the Win
I used a few frozen fruits like cherries for this recipe instead of fresh produce. Frozen produce is a great option for finding fresh and flavorful fruits in the off season. By using freezer ingredients, I can stock up when they are on sale, and use them in all kinds of great dishes. It saves me a trip to the store, and I can add amazing fruits right into the recipe.
Frozen fruit is often picked at peak ripeness, so they are a much better option than canned. Check out all my recipes that use Freezer Ingredients – great for those nights when you want dinner ready fast!
What’s In This Plant Based Recovery Smoothie?
See the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!
- Protein Powder: we are huge fans of Chocolate Sport protein which is derived totally from plants and is super delicious. I like that this protein powder isn’t TOO sweet or taste artificial at all.
- Banana
- Dark Cherries: I stock up on frozen cherries, which are so good in smoothies like this!
- Water: or you can use almond milk for a little extra protein and creaminess
- Walnuts: the secret to this amazing smoothie, and they are great to throw a handful into blended drinks or muffins.
- Ice
Blenders for Smoothies
I recommend using a good-quality high speed blender for this recipe. I have a fantastic Vitamix blender, which I have been using for years, and it gets daily use in our home.
Choose a blender that has a lot of power, and can pulverize even the toughest of ingredients. My blender can chop ice, dates, frozen fruits, make soups, and even blend nuts into homemade nut butter. Using a good high-speed blender will make perfectly creamy smoothies and sauces every time!
One of the BEST Pantry Staple Smoothies
This vegan workout recovery smoothie recipe is a fantastic pantry-staple snack! It uses almost all ingredients you would have in your dry pantry, cupboards, or freezer. You probably already have a lot of these ingredients on hand! Keeping a well-stocked pantry makes it easy to come up with delicious meals using a few staples you can rotate.
