What’s In This Canned Vegan Sloppy Joes Recipe:
- Red Onion, Garlic, Bell Pepper – I get all the fresh produce for my recipes from my garden and from Misfits Market – they sell all organic produce at a super discounted price, and it’s purchased direct from the farmers. We get Misfit Market boxes every other week and love picking out our favorite seasonal produce for delivery. You can get $10 off your first $30 box by clicking here!
If you think organic produce is too expensive… think again, and give Misfits Market a look!
- Canned Lentils – lentils are fairly easy to make on their own, but using canned lentils are even easier! By ‘canned’ I mean any prepared cooked lentils: in a can, pouch, tin… whatever! Just open them, drain, and mix with the sauce for a delicious meal ready in no time.
- Olive Oil: I like to use this fruity Zoe olive oil which has a fantastic flavor and deep color- it’s really inexpensive online here, so I keep a few liters stocked up in my pantry. For the quality of oil you get, it’s an excellent value, I would highly recommend!
- Apple Cider Vinegar, which gives this dinner a little extra tang which is really fantastic! I love using this organic apple cider vinegar with the mother which has a great flavor. I think it gives a nice extra sweetness and depth to these sandwiches… my secret ingredient!
- Crushed Tomatoes: I only use no salt added crushed tomatoes, these boxed tomatoes are really great to stock up on! I like boxed tomatoes better because they are BPA free and more eco-friendly than aluminum cans. If you haven’t read about the dangers of consuming foods stored in BPA cans, head over to Nutrition Facts to read more.
- Low Sodium Worcestershire Sauce: for that unbelievably tangy umami flavor that bring the classic taste to these Sloppy Joes! I love using this low sodium Worcestershire sauce in all kinds of recipes, at only 2% sodium per serving, a little goes a long way on flavor.
- Agave Syrup: I really like using this raw organic agave syrup because it’s a natural and sustainable sweetener, plus it is ridiculously inexpensive online so I always keep a few of these bottles in my pantry.
- Chili Powder: for a really nice flavor in this dip – the chili powder isn’t spicy but will give you a rich and bright flavor.
- Onion Powder: adds a delicious and savory flavor to this dish as well, and the onion powder pairs nicely with the onion in the mix as well.
- Black Pepper
- Buns
