Easy Breakfast Recipes With Kale

This kale avocado smoothie recipe is a fantastic way to start your day out right!  While kale isn’t traditionally consumed for breakfast, this recipe makes it easy to get your greens in first thing in the morning. I add plenty of fruit (you can use fresh or frozen) to sweeten this smoothie naturally. Only good-for-you whole ingredients go into this smoothie, making it a great way to rise & shine!

What’s In This Green Avocado Smoothie Recipe?

Be sure to visit the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!

  • Avocado, Kale, Pineapple
  • Plant-Based Vanilla Protein Powder
  • Banana
  • Flaxseed: I always add a scoop in my smoothies.
  • Water
  • Ice

Blending Smoothies

I recommend using a good-quality high speed blender for this recipe. I have a fantastic Vitamix blender, which I have been using for years, and it gets daily use in our home.

Choose a blender that has a lot of power, and can pulverize even the toughest of ingredients. My blender can chop ice, dates, frozen fruits, make soups, and even blend nuts into homemade nut butter. Using a good high-speed blender will make perfectly creamy smoothies and sauces every time!

Frozen Fruit Recipes For the Win!

I used frozen pineapple and banana in this smoothie instead of fresh. By using freezer ingredients, I can stock up when they are on sale, and use them in all kinds of great dishes. It saves me a trip to the store, and I can have frozen fruit to use in smoothies in no time.

Check out all my recipes that use Freezer Ingredients on The Herbeevore – great for those days when you want a meal ready fast!

Dietary Modifications

  • This recipe is vegan and gluten free – if you are adding a protein powder, make sure it keeps with any dietary modifications you require. I like a vegan and gluten free orange and ginger protein for this smoothie, if I’m adding a powder!
