This vegan boom boom sauce is a healthy low sodium sauce that will add a TON of flavor to your next dish!  I was inspired to recreate the Boom Boom sauce that I had at one of our favorite restaurants: The Black Whale in New Bedford, Massachusetts!   When my family was visiting last week we ordered the boom boom shrimp as an appetizer and I had to recreate the spicy/sweet sauce in came with at home. Also, I’m pretty sure we ordered it because it’s fun to say.
 
This vegan boom boom sauce is low in sodium, so it’s a great condiment to add onto your next Buddha bowl, or dip your crispy baked tofu into.

Note: I made this sauce out of this great silken tofu – BUT I realize tofu isn’t everyone’s jam… so you can substitute the same amount of plant-based mayo instead if you don’t like tofu.  But give it a try!  It’s low in fat, low in calories, and high in protein… and tastes amazing with the rest of the flavors of this dish.

The Best Blender Boom Boom Sauce

I made this dairy free sauce in my Vitamix. I’ve owned a lot of blenders, but my Vitamix is definitely the best one I’ve owned. This high-speed blender will blend even the toughest of ingredients into pulp.  I prefer using my blender to my food processor for sauces like this or homemade hummus, as it’s much easier to clean the Vitamix. This is definitely one kitchen appliance we use on a daily basis! Hello smoothies.

How Do I Make Boom Boom Sauce Vegan?

  1. Add all of the below ingredients to a blender, and blend well to combine, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Transfer sauce to a serving bowl, and top with extra paprika or parsley for a garnish.
  3. Dip sushi, crispy tofu, or potatoes into the sauce and enjoy!
