Lemon Smoothie That’s Vegan & Dairy Free
This dairy free lemon smoothie is a fantastic take on the classic without all the dairy. I’m all about making recipes plant-based and dairy free when I can. Dairy-free cooking does NOT have to be bland, boring, or flavorless… It’s quite the opposite when done right. You can achieve total richness and creaminess with some simple swaps. By building meals around vegan pantry staples and swapping in a few plant-based ingredients you can make healthier meals for you and your family. I made a list of my 125 favorite vegan pantry ingredients that we use on a weekly basis, and check out all my vegan recipes here that are on The Herbeevore. These easy and healthy recipes are fantastic meatless and dairy free meals for your table.

- Dairy Free Milk – you can use any variety you like: soy, oat, almond, rice, or coconut milk. I used an almond milk for this one, as it has a nice subtle nutty flavor.
- Lemons – I used organic lemons because I blended the peel too.
- Plant-Based Vanilla Protein Powder – of all the protein powders in the world, this vanilla protein powder is one my absolute favorite! It’s simple, has just 4 ingredients, and tastes amazing with fruit smoothies. It’s not chalky and contains tons of plant protein to keep you going throughout the day!
- Medjool Dates – dates add natural sweetness to recipes, and have a fantastic flavor! I’ve been adding dates to everything lately – I buy dates by the box and add them to smoothies, desserts, and just enjoy them as a snack.
- Frozen Bananas
- Flaxseed Meal: I always add a scoop in my recipes for a little extra nutritional punch! This flaxseed meal has a wonderful nutty flavor too. Flaxseeds have a ton of amazing health benefits, so add a scoop to breakfasts, lunches, or smoothies!
Frozen Banana Recipes For the Win!
I used frozen bananas for this recipe instead of using fresh. By freezing bananas, I can stock up when they are on sale, and use them in all kinds of great dishes. It saves me a trip to the store, and I can have amazing frozen fruit to add right to my blender.

How Do I Make This Lemon Protein Shake Recipe?
- Add all ingredients to a high speed blender. If you have a high-speed blender (such as a Vitamix or Ninja, etc), you can add the lemon with the peel! If not, zest the lemon and add the juice, and discard the rest.
- Blend all ingredients on high speed until you get a smooth consistency. Pour into your favorite glass or mason jar and enjoy.

A Note On Blending Lemons
I use this Vitamix Blender for all my smoothies , it can blend anything... no seriously, anything! I add the entire lemon to this smoothie - peel and all! If you don't have a high-speed blender (like a Vitamix or Ninja system, etc.), then you can zest 1 lemon, then add the juice to the smoothie. You'll get the same flavor, but not as many nutrients as consuming the whole lemon.Save Money on Groceries, Pantry Staples, and Cleaning Supplies!
