A Healthy Breakfast With Cottage Cheese To Enjoy Every Morning

This cottage cheese smoothie recipe is a fantastic way to start your day on the right foot!  While cottage cheese isn’t traditionally consumed in a smoothie, this recipe makes it easy to get your protein in first thing in the morning. I add plenty of fruit (you can use fresh or frozen) to sweeten this smoothie naturally. Only good-for-you whole ingredients go into this smoothie, making it a great way to rise & shine!

What’s In This Cottage Cheese Fruit Smoothie?

  • Blueberries – I get all the fresh produce for my recipes from my garden and from Misfits Market – they sell all organic produce at a super discounted price, and it’s purchased direct from the farmers. We get Misfit Market boxes every other week and love picking out our favorite seasonal produce for delivery.  You can get $10 off your first $30 box by clicking here!
If you think organic produce is too expensive… think again, and give Misfits Market a look!

  • Cottage Cheese – you can use non-fat, 2%, or 4% cottage cheese, whatever you prefer!
  • Banana: add 1 banana or some of this great banana powder. When we don’t have fresh bananas, adding a tablespoon of this banana powder to every smoothie has been a great way to get nutrition in.
  • Orange
  • Blueberries – you can use fresh or frozen
  • Agave Syrup:  I really like using this raw organic agave syrup because it’s a sustainable sweetener, plus it’s an inexpensive natural sweetener so I always keep a few of these bottles in my pantry.
  • Water

The Best Blender for the Job

I’ve owned a lot of blenders, but my high-speed Vitamix blender is definitely the best one I’ve owned. This appliance will blend even the toughest of ingredients (frozen fruit, anyone?) into pulp.  I prefer using my blender to my food processor for sauces or homemade hummus, as it’s much easier to clean out the Vitamix. This is definitely one kitchen appliance we use on a daily basis, if not twice a day!

How Do I Make This Cottage Cheese Smoothie Recipe?

  1. Add all ingredients to a high speed blender.
  2. Blend on low, and increase speed until all fruit/yogurt are blended and the smoothie is a creamy consistency.
  3. Pour into your favorite glass, sit back, and enjoy!

Frozen Fruit Recipes For the Win!

I used frozen blueberries in this smoothie instead of fresh. By using freezer ingredients, I can stock up when they are on sale, and use them in all kinds of great dishes. It saves me a trip to the store, and I can have frozen fruit to use in smoothies in no time. Check out all my recipes that use Freezer Ingredients on The Herbeevore – great for those days when you want a meal ready fast!
