This blood orange vinaigrette  dressing recipe is a simple bright and flavorful dressing for salads. Made with freshly squeezed blood orange juice, olive oil, garlic, and cider vinegar.

This is a fantastic recipe to make if you have fresh blood oranges, it makes a fancy and elevated dressing. I love severing this vinaigrette with my blood orange salad recipe, or on a salad with homemade garlic croutons.

When you can find fresh blood oranges in season in the late winter or early spring, this dressing is the perfect way to use them up!  I got some absolutely gorgeous blood oranges in my Misfits Market box this week. I love this easy blood orange salad dressing, which is ready in about 5 minutes with oranges and simple pantry ingredients.

Homemade salad dressings, especially with fresh citrus, are the easiest way to elevate your next salad. A delicious salad with blood orange dressing is a fantastic winter appetizer or side dish with dinner. It’s great for entertaining or dinner parties.

What Are Blood Oranges?

Blood oranges are a variety of orange, which have a deep dark purple interior, much like blood. They taste like a regular orange, however the color is different.

They are sweet and fresh tasting, like a classic navel orange. They are in season in winter, like most citrus fruits, and you can typically find them in grocery stores from December through April.

  • Good Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Sunflower Oil: our go-to oil for everything, it has a neutral mild flavor, great for salad dressings. It’s also high oleic, which makes it one of the best oils for roasting at high temperatures.
  • Blood Orange Juice
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: which gives this dressing a little extra tang!  I think it gives a nice extra sweetness and depth.
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Pinch Of Salt

How Do You Make Salad Dressing with Blood Oranges?

  1. Add all ingredients to a mason jar. Secure the lid and shake until well combined.
  2. Use dressing on your favorite salad.
  3. Dressing will keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
