A Tasty Homemade Salad Dressing Recipe with Onions

See the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!

  • Onions – I used a sweet Vidalia onion for this recipe, which makes it naturally sweet. Use a good onion, as it’s one of the key ingredients. You can also use white onions, red onion, or yellow onions from the grocery store too.
  • Fresh Garlic cloves
  • Honey, or Maple Syrup/Agave nectar for a little natural sweetness.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar – I like the sweetness of ACV, but you can use white wine vinegar or even a white balsamic vinegar instead.
  • Dijon Mustard – I like using a nice Dijon mustard which I find has more flavor than regular yellow mustard.
  • Sea Salt & Black Pepper
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil – for a nice flavor, or a light vegetable oil can be used instead.

What Equipment Do You Need

I used a high-speed blender for this dressing, but you can use a food processor as well. You want to make sure the onion is completely blended.

I like storing my dressing in a half pint mason jar with an airtight lid. But you can use any airtight container you have on hand as well.
