These vegan and gluten free caramelized onions are the perfect recipe for healthy homemade meal prep.  I am a huge fan of meal prepping, batch cooking, and making recipes ahead.  I love the convenience of cooking once and being able to enjoy healthy homemade meals during the week when I don’t have time. How Do I Make Caramelized Onions?

  1. In a Dutch Oven or other heavy lidded pot, add the onions, olive oil, and sea salt.  Saute on medium heat, and stir with a wooden spoon for 5 minutes until the onions begin to reduce.
  2. Turn heat to low, and saute for 10 more minutes with the lid off the pot. Add the white wine and cook for 10 minutes more.
  3. Add the vegan Worcestershire sauce and the minced garlic, and stir.  Cook for the remaining 5 minutes on medium heat – the onions should be soft, brown, and flavorful!
  4. Add the caramelized onions to burgers, risotto, dips, or pastas – mangia!
