A Quick Tzatziki Recipe That’s Perfect for Summer

This no-cook garlic tzatziki sauce is a quick and simple recipe, perfect for a quick appetizer or dipping sauce.  I love a good no-cook recipe for those days when I’m not feeling like standing around the stove, or for summer nights when it’s too hot to cook. I have a whole collection of recipes that require zero cooking at all, check them out here!

This easy vegan tzatziki sauce comes together in about 5 minutes, and doesn’t require the stove or microwave to make. Just use a few pantry staple ingredients, a few fresh chopped herbs and veggies, and you have a tasty meal ready in no time.  And very little to clean up afterwards… an added bonus!

Ingredients In Vegan Tzatziki Recipe

  • Cucumbers – you can use any variety of cucumber you’d like, I used small Persian cucumbers which have a wonderful sweet flavor and few seeds.
  • Fresh herbs – I love loading my vegan tzatziki with fresh dill, you can also add some fresh mint for a nice zing.
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Plant-Based Yogurt – while traditional tzatziki is made with regular Greek yogurt, I like using a plant-based version. You can find great unsweetened coconut yogurt or soy yogurt which makes a wonderful creamy base. Any unsweetened vegan and dairy-free yogurt will make a wonderfully creamy base.
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Vinegar
  • A pinch of salt & Black Pepper

Substitutions

Instead of white wine vinegar, you can use apple cider vinegar, plain white vinegar, or red wine vinegar in it’s place. Or use fresh lemon juice too.

If you don’t like the taste of fresh dill, substitute with mint, parsley, or even cilantro.

Instead of using yogurt, you can blend silken tofu which makes a higher protein sauce with a thick consistency. Or try a vegan sour cream as an alternative too.

If you don’t have a blender, you can make this sauce in a food processor too.

How To Serve Vegan Tzatziki

This easy recipe is so versatile, it can be used as a dip, spread, or snack. First off, we love dipping freshly toasted pita bread into this sauce. Or loading it on to a vegan shawarma or vegan gyro.

Serve this delicious vegan tzatziki with more Greek cuisine: like these tasty Greek giant beans, or vegan avgolemono soup!

And it’s a great sauce to enjoy the next day too. Store leftovers in an airtight container, and give the sauce a good stir before serving.

How Do I Make This Tzatziki Recipe Vegan?
