What’s In This Goat Cheese Pizza with Red Sauce?
Be sure to visit the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!
- Goat Cheese – I love the bright, salty flavor of adding plain chevre goat cheese to my pizza. It’s especially great when baked, becoming creamy and delicious. It pairs nicely with sweet and salty flavors, making it perfect for this pizza.
- Pizza Dough – I make my own (recipe here!) , but you can buy it premade from the store OR pick it up from your local pizza place.
- Pizza Sauce – You can use any store-bought pizza sauce, or just plain marinara sauce. I like making my own from tomato paste and a few simple ingredients like olive oil, garlic and Italian herbs.
- Caramelized Onions – I sauté some onions with olive oil and a splash of Worcestershire sauce which caramelizes them in about 15 minutes.
- Pears
- Honey
- Other toppings of your choice: Thyme, Basil, Mozzarella
How Do I Make Pizza with Goat Cheese?
- Roll out the pizza dough, into 2 9-inch pizzas. Place the dough on a sheet pan and allow to rest for 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- To a medium pan, heat the olive oil and add the sliced onions. Sauté over low heat for 10 minutes, then add the Worcestershire sauce. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until onions are soft. Set aside for them to cool.
- Place the pizza dough pans in the oven, and bake for 5 minutes. Remove the pizza crusts, and add 1/2 cup of sauce to each pizza. Then add the goat cheese, sliced pears, caramelized onions, and thyme (plus any additional toppings as desired) to the pizza. Bake for an additional 8-10 minutes or for additional time until the cheese has melted.

Hot Honey Pizza with Ricotta
Equipment
- Pan
- Rolling Pin
- Honey Dipper
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons corn meal
- 1 lb pizza dough divided into two balls
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
- 3/4 cup ricotta cheese I used whole milk ricotta
- 2 tablespoons hot honey
- 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes
- 2 cups fresh arugula
Instructions
- To a pizza stone (or pizza pan) add a sprinkle of cornmeal. Roll out the pizza dough, into two 9-inch pizzas. Place the dough on top of the corn meal pan and allow to rest for 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Once oven has reached temperature. Spread the pizza sauce over the dough. Fold the edges of the pizza dough into a crust (optional). Bake the dough and sauce for 6 minutes.
- After 6 minutes, carefully remove the pizza from the hot oven, and sprinkle on the parmesan cheese.
- Take a spoon and scoop out thin dollops of ricotta cheese and slide them onto the pizza. Repeat until pizza reaches desired cheesiness.
- Place the pizza back into the oven and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes, until crust begins to crisp and brown.
- Add handfuls of arugula on top of the ricotta cheese. Drizzle hot honey over the arugula and sprinkle (optional) chili flakes for a little extra heat. Slice and enjoy hot!
Notes
-
- You could use a store-bought hot honey or just regular honey drizzled on top.
-
- Instead of arugula (or in addition to!) add roasted red peppers, olives, mushrooms, caramelized onions, or sundried tomatoes.
-
- Add a handful of mozzarella cheese or a pizza blend cheese on top of the sauce for a more classic cheese pizza flavor.
- When adding scoops of ricotta cheese, try to make them roughly the same size. You want the ricotta be consistent and even throughout the pizza.
- Don’t want to make pizza dough? Call the parlor! I love to swing buy and purchase pizza dough directly from them instead of making my own. You can buy dough at almost any pizzeria, and it’s usually super inexpensive.
- Season to taste. Everyone’s preferences can vary. Before fully digging in, taste the pizza and add a bit more parmesan cheese (or chili flakes) if needed.
