This simple baked tofu recipe combines 2 of my favorite things: crispy tofu baked in the oven and a sweet, delicious sauce with raw honey and garlic! The sweet and crunchy tofu is baked in the oven, then tossed with the sweet raw honey garlic sauce and sesame seeds. This tofu pairs well with stir fry, with roasted veggies, or over rice or lo mein.
This recipe combines two of my favorite recipes: my perfect crispy oven baked tofu and honey garlic sauce. Sweet and salty, tangy and delicious! This tofu is so good even non-tofu lovers will want to dig in.

Ingredients You’ll Need
Be sure to visit the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!
- Tofu – I used an extra firm tofu for this recipe.
- Honey, you can use a light or dark honey, whatever kind you prefer. Bonus points if it’s local (support your local beekeepers)!
- Worcestershire Sauce: for that unbelievably rich umami flavor, but make sure you use a vegan variety if you don’t eat meat (some can contain anchovies).
- Garlic Powder: A great way to add a lot of flavor with just a small amount of spice! This garlic powder is a fantastic addition to this tofu and really bakes the flavor in.
- Onion Powder: a light sweet spice which adds a really nice depth of flavor to this dish!
- Sea Salt & Black Pepper
- Corn Starch: just enough to coat the tofu and help it crisp in the oven. This is the secret ingredient to irresistibly crunchy baked tofu.
Additions and Substitutions
For a vegan version, you can substitute out the honey in this recipe for agave nectar or maple syrup.
Add in your favorite stir fried vegetables – peapods, bell peppers, onions, water chestnuts, bean sprouts, broccoli, or cauliflower would all be great options.
Want it spicier? Add more chili flakes or serve with homemade Thai hot sauce or sriracha.
Finding Good Honey
This is one of my favorite honey recipes! You can browse all of my honey recipes here on my site. As a beekeeper, I love trying out new favorite honey recipes. Nothing is sweeter than using your own honey.
If you’re looking to buy honey I’d recommend searching for local beekeeper in your area. Farmer’s markets or your local beekeeping store can give you recommendations. That way you can have delicious local honey and also support an apiary… get it straight from the source.
How To Make This Recipe
Step 1: Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Cube the tofu into bite-sized pieces, then place them in a mixing bowl or plastic bag.
Step 2: To the tofu add 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and the corn starch. Mix well to combine, coating every piece of the tofu in the sauce.
Step 3: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper, drizzle olive oil over it, and set aside. Place the tofu on the sheet pan in an even layer.
Step 4: Place the sheet pan in the oven, and bake for 20 minutes. Flip the tofu, and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
Step 5: While the tofu is cooking, add all the remaining Worcestershire sauce, honey, raw garlic, chili flakes, and sesame seeds in a sauce pan. Heat and stir until well combined.
Step 6: Once the tofu is done cooking, add it to a bowl, and toss it with the honey garlic sauce.
Step 7: Serve over rice, lo mein, or roasted vegetables! Garnish with extra sesame seeds, green onions, or fresh herbs if desired.
Recipe FAQs
Yes, to make a vegan version, just substitute out the honey for a different sweetener. Agave nectar or maple syrup are great vegan options.
Use the firmest tofu you can find. Extra firm tofu, or super firm tofu (in a vacuum-sealed pack) are great options since they hold up well to being baked in the oven. Firmer varieties work better than silken tofu in this recipe.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container, and refrigerate for up to 3 days. To reheat, air fry for a few minutes or microwave until hot.
