Make Flaxseed Porridge Vegan for a Healthy Breakfast
This vegan flaxseed oatmeal is a simple way to get extra veggies in your diet. I’m all about making recipes plant-based when I can. Vegan cooking does NOT have to be bland, boring, or flavorless… It’s quite the opposite when done right. By building meals around vegan pantry staples and swapping in a few plant-based ingredients you can make healthier meals for you and your family. I made a list of my 125 favorite vegan pantry ingredients that we use on a weekly basis, and check out all my vegan recipes here that are on The Herbeevore. These easy and healthy recipes are fantastic meatless and dairy free meals for your table.
What’s In This Flaxseed Oatmeal Recipe?
- Flaxseed Meal: I always add a scoop in my oatmeal for a little extra nutritional punch! This flaxseed meal has a wonderful nutty flavor too. Flaxseeds have a ton of amazing health benefits, so add a scoop to breakfasts, lunches, or smoothies!
- Milk – I used unsweetened Almond Milk for my version of this recipe. I prefer almond milk, which Silk has a shelf-stable version that lasts up to a year in the pantry!
- Almond Flour or Almond Meal – You can buy pre-ground almond flour online here (I make a wicked pie crust out of them!) or you can use any leftovers from making nut milk for a great no-waste recipe.
- Agave Syrup: I really like using this raw organic agave syrup because it’s a natural and sustainable sweetener, plus it is ridiculously inexpensive online so I always keep a few of these bottles in my pantry.
- Cinnamon: which gives this breakfast a subtle spice-y flavor! I love to add in a pinch for extra warmth and depth of flavor.
- Apples, or any Fruit of your choice: I get all the fresh produce for my recipes from my garden and from Misfits Market – they sell all organic produce at a super discounted price, and it’s purchased direct from the farmers. We get Misfit Market boxes every other week and love picking out our favorite seasonal produce for delivery. You can get $10 off your first $30 box by clicking here!
If you think organic produce is too expensive… think again, and give Misfits Market a look! - Pinch salt
- Nuts for garnish, I used walnuts

Save that Leftover Almond Pulp for a No-Waste Recipe!
I’m all about saving, reusing, or repurposing as much as I can in my kitchen. This easy breakfast flaxseed porridge is the perfect recipe to repurpose something you may be tempted to throw out. Instead of tossing the extra pulp or meal from making nut milk in the compost or garbage, you can repurpose it into a delicious and flavorful breakfast.
