What’s In These Dairy Free Brownies?

Be sure to visit the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!

  • All Purpose Flour: I use all purpose flour for all my recipes. If you are gluten free, then a gluten free flour would be a nice substitute in these brownies.  If you want to keep it a little wholesome, you can use half whole wheat flour as well.
  • Cacao Powder: this unsweetened cacao powder is delicious. Make sure you use a raw cacao powder and not sweetened baking cocoa… it makes a huge difference.
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Salt
  • Eggs – We try to get cage free / free range eggs when we can. There isn’t any nutritional difference, but I always try to support animal welfare when I can!
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Vanilla Extract: it’s super important to use real pure vanilla extract, and not artificial baking vanilla flavor. This real all natural vanilla is a fantastic ingredient to give this recipe an extra flavor boost.

How Do I Make Brownies without Butter or Milk?

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the cocoa powder, all purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Mix the dry ingredients together.
  3. Add the eggs, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract and mix well to combine. Add walnuts, if using.
  4. Pour the batter into the baking dish and place in a center rack of the oven. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until cooked fully through. To test, stick a toothpick into the center of the brownies, and if it comes out clean the brownies are fully cooked.
  5. Allow the brownies to cool for at least 10 minutes, and enjoy!
