Ingredients You’ll Need
- Red Chili Flakes: the star of this dish.
- Vegetable oil, or olive oil.
- Sesame Seeds – give this condiment it’s nice crunch, and a great flavor!
- Toasted Sesame Oil: The sesame oil gives the perfect savory flavor. Toasted sesame oil is great paired with the sesame seeds in this condiment.
- Soy Sauce or Tamari: tamari is a gluten-free version of soy sauce. Tamari has a bright salty flavor, and adds a really nice depth of umami to this crisp.
- Onion Powder: adds a delicious and savory flavor to this chili crisp.
- Fresh Garlic – I used fresh chopped garlic, which was a fantastic addition!
- Honey:Â I recommend trying a local farmers market to find the best raw honey in your area. Getting really good honey is a favorite of ours, and makes a difference in your recipes.
Substitutions and Additions
- If you don’t have vegetable oil, you can use any oil you like to cook with. I use olive oil sometimes for a little extra fruity flavor.
- For a vegan version, swap the honey for agave nectar or a natural sweetener like maple syrup.
- You could also make this with fresh minced chili peppers instead of chili flakes, but it won’t be as crunchy.
