This burrata caprese salad recipe is our go-to summer appetizer, perfect with garden tomatoes and fresh basil. This is a great starter salad, but hearty enough to enjoy as a whole meal – served with thick and crusty bread.

If you like fresh mozzarella cheese, then you’ll love burrata!  It’s firm enough to hold it’s shape like a mozzarella, but filled with creamy fresh cheese in the middle. Creamy enough to spread!  I love serving this salad with Castelvetrano olives which have a briny delicious finish!

What’s In This Caprese Burrata Recipe?

Be sure to visit the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!

  • Tomatoes, Basil
  • Burrata Cheese – This cheese looks like fresh mozzarella, but is filled with a creamy spreadable center!  A delicious and creamy surprise.
  • Castelvetrano Olives – these bright green olives and briny, salted, and more mild than traditional green olives which give this salad a fancy sophisticated flair.
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil:
  • Aged Balsamic Vinegar: I use an aged balsamic vinegar glaze because it has a really great flavor and a thick consistency perfect for drizzling on this garlic bread recipe!
  • Tellicherry Peppercorns: It’s amazing the flavor difference you can get with really good tellicherry black pepper.

How Do I Make This Caprese Burrata Salad?

  1. Drain the burrata and place in the center of a large plate.
  2. Slice tomatoes, and arrange them around the burrata.  I used a mix of on-vine and cherry tomatoes for color – but pick the sweetest and most in-season tomatoes.
  3. arrange the Castelvetrano olives around the tomatoes and cheese, and top with fresh basil.
  4. Drizzle the olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad and crack fresh black pepper over the salad.
  5. Serve immediately, and enjoy!
