What’s In These Garlic Knots with Olive Oil
Be sure to visit the recipe card below for full ingredient amounts and recipe instructions!
- Instant Yeast: I recently tried out instant yeast on a whim (normally I buy active dry) and I absolutely love it! Instant yeast is great for both overnight breads and this easy quick garlic knots recipe too!
- All purpose flour: I like to use this flour which is amazing for baking anything: breads, cakes, muffins, etc. It’s my absolute go-to flour, and what I use to feed my sourdough starter.
- Fine Sea Salt: I like a fine ground sea salt for baking. Normally I like Himalayan salt, but I find that a fine grain salt distributes more evenly in breads and cakes.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Garlic Powder: Also a major pantry staple ingredient that gets used in our house daily! I love this garlic powder and add it to a lot of recipes that I would use fresh garlic in too.
- Parsley to top

How Do I Make Garlic Knots Without Eggs?
- Add all ingredients (except garlic + parsley) to a large bowl. Mix well to combine the dough. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, adding more flour if the dough is too sticky. Place the kneaded dough back into the bowl. Pour 1 tablespoon of the olive oil over the dough, and flip the dough to make sure it’s coated in the olive oil. Cover and let rest for 1 hour.
- When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough in half, and each of the halves into 8 pieces. This recipe makes 16 knots. Take the dough for one knot, and roll it into a 9 or 10 inch strip with your palms. Take the two ends of the dough: make a loop with one end, and feed the other end through the loop to make a knot. Like you’re completing the first step of tying your shoes. Place the knot on the baking sheet, and repeat until all the knots are tied.
- Place the baking sheet in the oven, and bake for 18-24 minutes until the garlic knots are golden brown on top. Remove from oven.
- Brush each garlic knot with olive oil, raw garlic, and parsley. Enjoy!

These disappeared on my table
I am not a baker. But this knot made me one. The ingredients were in my pantry and the recipe easy enough even for me. Best of all they were gone in a flash with the family’s smiling faces.
