Tuna salad has been a favorite of mine from when I was young – I loved whipping up a batch to eat with crackers!  I used to eat canned tuna mixed with sweet relish and mayo, but I wanted to make a healthier grown-up version of this classic recipe.

By adding the Greek yogurt, you get a high protein tuna salad that tastes amazing. The Greek yogurt replaces mayonnaise in this dish, and gives the tuna salad a creamy and tangy flavor.

What’s Traditional Tuna Salad Made With?

Tuna salad is traditionally made with mayonnaise, which gives it a creamy, tangy texture. This recipe substitutes the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt, which gives the tuna salad a similar flavor but with less fat.

You can use non-fat Greek yogurt, 2% or even 4% in this recipe depending on your preferences. Either way, the Greek yogurt makes a really great substitute for mayo!

Is Tuna Salad Sweet or Savory?

This recipe is a little bit of both! I like using sweet relish to give the salad a tangy kick.

You can make this recipe with dill pickles or dill relish instead for a more savory bite. I find the sweet relish adds a nice complexity to this dish, so I recommend you give it a try.
