When you’re tired of traditional spaghetti night – mix it up and make this tasty stir fry noodles recipe for something a little different. This recipe is not authentic, but rather mixes traditional Italian pasta with an Asian-inspired stir fry sauce. Packed with vegetables, this stir fry is an inexpensive and affordable alternative to take out.

While traditional stir fry recipes are made with fresh noodles or dried rice noodles, I find that spaghetti can make a decent substitute in a pinch. I always keep spaghetti in my pantry, and since it cooks in 10 minutes, I can enjoy this dish for a quick work-from-home lunch or fast weeknight dinner.

Again, these noodles may not be authentic, but they are a great way to enjoy a budget-friendly spaghetti dinner without traditional Italian sauces.

What’s In This Spicy Sesame Garlic Spaghetti Recipe?

  • Spaghetti – you can use regular, whole wheat, or even a gluten free variety. I use whole wheat spaghetti for my stir fry, as that is what I usually have on hand!
  • Sesame Oil:  I love adding sesame oil to almost any Asian-inspired dish.  A great flavor from the toasted sesame seeds in these noodles.
  • Soy Sauce / Tamari: for this recipe you can use regular soy sauce or tamari. Tamari is just a gluten-free version of soy sauce.
  • Sriracha or Chili Sauce: I like this chili crisp sauce for a little heat and sweetness in my noodle dishes. I also use sriracha when I have some on hand, but it has been hard to find lately!
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Chopped vegetables: I used green onion and kale for my noodles, but you can mix it up and use your favorites: peapods, mushrooms, or peppers would be delicious.
  • Sesame Seeds: I love garnishing with sesame seeds on top of noodle dishes, ramen, or anything that has sesame oil. These add a little crunch, texture, and flavor.
