Happy New Year everyone, we are so excited to kick off 2026 in the kitchen. We have so many great new things coming this year (I started my nutritionist certification!), and have been so eager to make fresh juices. This juicer turmeric ginger shots recipe is a great punch of flavor that takes just 5 minutes.

Start by slicing your fruits and roots into small pieces that will fit into your juicer, and start juicing – it couldn’t be easier! These juicer shots make a great drink first thing in the morning, or a nice and flavorful shot to take if you are under the weather. The flavors are bold and delicious!

Notes from our Kitchen

  • These turmeric ginger shots use fresh turmeric root and fresh ginger for a wonderful flavor.
  • We also add some black pepper in, as it pairs well with turmeric.
  • Just 5 ingredients, all simple and fresh.
  • Much more economical and inexpensive to make these at home, as opposed to going to a juice bar or smoothie bar.
  • Cooks of any skill level can make these, just follow our step-by-step photos below!

Ingredients You’ll Need

What makes plant-based cooking easier for me is keeping whole ingredients on hand: beans, lentils & grains, and lots of fresh produce. I order many of those from Misfits Market, which focuses on reducing food waste! Get $25 off your first order if you’d like to try it.

The base of this recipe is using fresh ginger root and fresh turmeric root. I’ve seen fresh turmeric in many grocery stores near me (including Whole Foods and also at the Market Basket). It’s in the produce aisle, likely near the fresh ginger root.

I also use black pepper, as it pairs with turmeric, and adds a nice peppery flavor. And for the juice, I like fresh oranges and apples which add a great color and flavor. It’s a nice natural sweetness that carries some of the stronger flavors of the turmeric and pepper.

Additions and Substitutions

If you can’t find fresh turmeric root, you can add in 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric into the fresh ginger and orange juice.

If you don’t want to use orange juice, you could try another juice instead. Use all apple, or add a mix of carrot, peach, plum or watermelon… they would all work great.

Add in greens, or any other juicy vegetables for additional color and flavor.

Great Juicer Options

There are so many juicer options on the market – finding the right one for you is no small feat! For me, having one that is easy to clean was important, and also one that didn’t waste any of the juice. There are centrifugal juicers, and masticating juicers – I happen to love my masticating one.

For the best fruit juice, I love using my easy clean slow juicer, which gets each delicious drop out of the fruit. It’s great for most fruits and larger peeled citrus!

If your looking for a great juicer, it’s quiet, simple to clean, and an excellent tool we use almost daily.
