This vegan boba tea recipe with oat milk is a cool refreshing bubble tea that is made with plant-based milk, tapioca pearls, and natural sweetener. Add any tea of your choice for a fun drink that is also a snack!
Make the oat milk: in a blender, add the One Degree Organic Sprouted Rolled Oats and water. Allow the oats to soak for 10 minutes. Blend on high speed for 1 minute. Drain the oat milk slowly through a nut milk bag. Do not squeeze the oat milk through the bag, or else the oat milk can become slimy. Allow it to filter naturally, without applied pressure.
Make the tea. Boil the remaining 6 cups of water for the tea, steep your tea bags for 5 to 10 minutes. Add the natural sweetener to the tea. Allow the tea to cool.
Cook the tapioca pearls: bring a small pot of water to a boil, and add the tapioca pearls to the pot. Cook over low heat for about 5 minutes until the pearls become a dark black color and are cooked all the way through. Test one pearl to make sure it's done. Rinse under cold water, and drain.
Make the tea: add the cooked pearls to the bottom of a glass, add 1.5 cups of the steeped tea, and pour in the 1/2 cup oat milk to top. Add an extra wide straw for the boba pearls. Taste and add more sweetener if desired... enjoy!
