Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 4.5-5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt
  • Cornmeal for dusting

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, add the water and yeast and allow to sit for 5 minutes for yeast to bloom. Add in the flour, 1/4 cup of the olive oil, Italian seasonings, garlic powder, and salt. With a wooden spoon stir until all ingredients have been well combined. You can also use a stand mixer with the dough hook attachment, and mix for 5 minutes.
  • Turn the dough out onto a flat surface and knead by hand for 10 minutes until the dough becomes loose and malleable. Form into a ball, and place the dough back into the bowl. Pour the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil over the dough, cover with plastic wrap, and allow the dough to rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  • When ready to bake, divide the dough into thirds, each will make a 14 inch pizza. Roll each dough third into a ball, and flatten into a circle. I like to add cornmeal to a pizza peel, then place the rolled dough on top of the peel so the cornmeal is on the bottom. This helps keep the dough from sticking to the peel. Once the dough is on the peel, I add the pizza sauce, toppings, and cheese, then transfer the pizza to the hot pizza stone on the grill or oven. We usually get our ceramic grill up to about 550 before putting the pizza on, then let it cook for 8-10 minutes.
