Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a 9x13 baking dish with parchment paper.
Melt butter in a suacepan, or in a oven safe bowl
In a large mixing bowl, add the melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs and whisk to combine.
Add the baking soda, flour, salt, and the M&Ms (making sure to reserve a few for the top!) And stir well to combine into a dough.
Add dough to the baking dish, and bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
Remove from the oven, and allow cookie bars to cool for at least an hour before eating.
Notes
Dietary Modifications
To make these cookie bars gluten free, just make sure to use a gluten-free flour or baking mix. Also make sure the chocolate candies do not contain gluten.
To make these vegan, use a plant-based butter and egg substitute. I like to use a flax egg (1 tablespoon flax seed meal mixed with 1 tablespoon water) or apple sauce instead of the egg.
