This salted fig and ricotta toast recipe is the perfect breakfast when you want something totally decadent but also want it in 5 minutes. This beautiful toast takes advantage of late summer figs which are sweet and in season, and is loaded on creamy and sweet ricotta. Drizzle some honey on top, add a sprinkle of sea salt, and breakfast is served.
Figs have always been one of my favorite fruits. When I lived in California I loved getting them off the trees, and seeing them in the local markets. I enjoy eating them raw most of the time, but decided to get a little fancy and serve them with ricotta and honey. The result? A breakfast fit for a queen.

Is There a Vegan Alternative to Honey?

Yes, you can substitute out the honey in this recipe for agave nectar or maple syrup. I prefer agave nectar, it’s my go-to kitchen sweetener because it’s absolutely delicious, and buying organic agave is crazy inexpensive online (compared to other organic sweeteners).  It also bakes well, so I like to add it to my baked goods.

How Do I Make Sweet Honey Ricotta Toast with Figs?

  1. Toast the bread under the broiler for 3 minutes preside, or in a toaster. Spread each toast piece with ricotta in a thick layer
  2. Add sliced figs, crushed walnuts, and a drizzle or honey on each toast.
  3. Top with a sprinkle of sea salt and enjoy!
