This honey ricotta spread recipe is the perfect breakfast when you want something totally decadent but also want it in 5 minutes. This beautiful toast takes advantage of fresh honey (as a beekeeper, you better believe we always have a few jars around!), and is loaded on creamy and sweet ricotta. Drizzle some honey on top, add a sprinkle of sea salt and cinnamon, and breakfast is served.

You can use your favorite brand of store-bought honey, but if you can find local honey from a beekeeper, definitely try it out!  Your local farmers market or health food store will likely carry honey from near by, so support your local beekeepers if you can.

Is There a Vegan Alternative to Honey?

Yes, you can substitute out the honey in this recipe for agave nectar or maple syrup. I prefer agave nectar, it’s my go-to kitchen sweetener because it’s absolutely delicious, and buying organic agave is crazy inexpensive online (compared to other organic sweeteners).  It also bakes well, so I like to add it to my baked goods.
