I’ll admit, I’m not much of a dessert baker. I have a few pretty good cookie recipes: my crinkle chocolate chip cookies are a winner, and my 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies are awesome for a quick dessert. And I’m adding these delicious farmhouse chocolate chip cookies to my baking resume!  They are so unbelievably delicious, and pretty simple to make… a yummy homemade dessert will be cooling on your counter in under 30 minutes!

These are great cookies to make on a rainy or snowy day, and they made the house smell amazing!  One good thing about being in quarantine right now is that I have tons of time to bake and have the flexibility to create new and delicious recipes that I’ve never attempted before.  Once I mastered the 3 Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies, I graduated to a slightly more advanced recipe, and these were perfect!

What’s In These Farmhouse Chocolate Chip Cookies?

I get fresh produce from my garden and from Misfits Market– they sell fantastic fruit, vegetables, & pantry staples at a discounted price. We get Misfit boxes every other week and love picking out favorite produce for delivery. Get $10 off your first box here!

  • All Purpose Flour
  • Granulated & Brown Sugar: I like this organic sugar for my recipes, it has a really nice texture in these cookies.
  • Butter, can be plant based – if you don’t have fresh butter on hand, this butter powder is actually amazing!  I’ve baked cookies with it, and I really like having some butter in the pantry in a pinch.
  • Vanilla Extract: it’s super important to use real pure vanilla extract, and not artificial baking vanilla flavor. This real all natural vanilla is a fantastic ingredient to give these cookies an #extra boost.
  • Water
  • Baking Soda: I love keep baking soda in the pantry for baking, and also for cleaning.  This baking soda works great for both.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar, which may surprise you but it gives the cookies a little extra tang which is really fantastic! I love using this organic apple cider vinegar with the mother which has a great flavor.
  • Chocolate Chips: to give these cookies an amazing chocolate chunk! These chocolate chips are a great addition if you want to make these vegan and plant-based.
  • Pinch of Salt

These are cookies that everyone in the family will love – they are fun to make and use simple pantry staple ingredients.  We just stocked up on a lot of flour (50 lb bag!) so I anticipate making these cookies for the next few months while we are at home.  They are such a treat!  And since these are made with mostly pantry staple ingredients, you can whip up a batch anytime. These are great rainy day chocolate chip cookies to bake with family.

These go great with a nice cold glass of milk!  Regular milk, almond milk, oat milk, whatever you prefer!  My homemade chocolate oat milk recipe couldn’t be easier, and compliments these cookies really well.

  • These can be made Gluten Free by substituting the all purpose flour for a 1-to-1 gluten free baking mix!
  • These can be made Vegan by replacing the butter with a plant-based version or replacing the egg with a flax egg (1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 1 tablespoon water, mixed together), and make sure to use these delicious vegan chocolate chips!
